Heart Health Tips

Are you ready to take better care of your health? We have specifically put together an easy to understand and follow guide to improve your heart health. The healthier and happier life starts now!

Half of the American adult population have HBP but many do not even know it! To prevent heart failure or heart attack we encourage you to check your blood pressure regularly. Knowing your blood pressure readings and taking action can save your life!

Consistently elevated blood pressure damages your body over time causing harm to your heart and arteries. Damaged and thickened heart muscle has hard times to pump blood around your body  to keep vital organs alive. Your arteries become narrower and less elastic which limits the essential blood flow around the body.

  • Relax, sit upright and keep feet flat on the floor. Rest your one arm on the table at the chest level.
  • Place the inflatable cuff around your upper arm halfway between your shoulder and elbow. (Remove tight and thick clothing).
  •  Press start and wait the cuff to inflate. Stay still and quiet whilst the machine operates (30-60 seconds). Read the screen.
  •   Save your numbers for record keeping. Repeat the process.
  •  If needed (elevated blood pressure, hypertension) please seek help from your doctor!
  • Normal blood pressure: Lower than 120/80 mmHg
  • Elevated blood pressure: Between 120-129/80 mmHg
  • High blood pressure, stage 1: Between 130-139/80-90 mmHg
  • High blood pressure, stage 2: 140/90 mmHg or higher
  • Hypertensive crisis: 180/120 mmHg or higher

Your doctor may have advised you to purchase a blood pressure monitor for regular checkups to reduce stress and make it easy. Ultimately owning a blood pressure monitor allows you to stay in your own comfortable space when you check your blood pressure for the most accurate reading.

We encourage you to create a habit  that can save your life and bring peace of mind. If you are not happy to purchase one for your home, ask your employer to get one for the office. Alternatively ask your local sports or golf club you visit regularly to get one for common good.
